5TH YEAR is a dynamic musical duo formed by B. Cave and Dayne Black. Originating from a shared background in college baseball and a passion for music, 5TH YEAR was born from the synergy of their unique talents and experiences.
After meeting in Austin, TX, the duo quickly discovered a mutual respect for each other's musical abilities and began collaborating on various projects. Their journey together has seen them produce a mix of hip-hop, indie, and introspective tracks, blending their individual styles into a cohesive and innovative sound that is a blend of hip-hop, indie, and R&B.
Their connection deepened during a transformative week in Los Angeles, where they created the bulk of their debut EP RUNNING LATE. They both bring a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to the music scene, pushing the boundaries of their craft. Their music is a testament to their journey, capturing the essence of second chances and the belief that it’s never too late to achieve your dreams.

One of our favorite parts of this group is performing live. We’re consistently bringing the utmost energy, camaraderie, and entertainment value to the stage. Our crowds are riddled with smiling faces, waving hands, and the occasional mosh pit.
